The Challenge
When a large Norwegian oil and gas company set out to integrate two of its most critical offshore projects, without slowing the momentum of either, the stakes could not have been higher. Each project carried significant financial and operational weight. Merging their teams meant bridging different working cultures, mitigating the risk of siloed communication, and ensuring that resource absorption from the integration didn’t delay either project’s milestones. Leadership knew that technical alignment alone wouldn’t be enough. The real work was human.
Our Approach
ImproVision designed and facilitated a three-day integration kickoff conference in Oslo for approximately 75 attendees, partnering closely with the client’s conference design team to build an end-to-end experience aligned to their objectives.
The conference moved through three deliberate phases. A senior leadership alignment session brought project leaders together to surface key challenges, define integration goals, and build a shared strategy for success. A whole-team session followed, focused on developing the mindsets and practical skills, creative collaboration, open communication, and cross-silo awareness that technical teams need to work together under pressure. The final phase moved from mindset to action, with functional breakout sessions where teams identified integration risks and built concrete collaboration plans to address them.
One of the most distinctive elements of the engagement was ImproVision’s Train the Trainer model: we prepared selected client co-facilitators to lead breakout content alongside our team, embedding the methodology directly into the client’s own leadership.
The Results
The conference successfully united 75 leaders and team members around a shared integration strategy, equipping them with the relationships, skills, and functional action plans to collaborate across silos without derailing either project’s milestones. The impact extended well beyond those three days in Oslo, several senior executives who participated went on to engage ImproVision individually for executive and technical leadership coaching, a direct reflection of the trust built during the conference and the results that followed.
