Energizing 600 Leaders Across a Virtual Stage

Large Southeastern Utility
Energy Industry

The Challenge

When a large southeastern utility needed to bring approximately 600 leaders together for their annual leadership conference virtually, the challenge wasn’t just logistical — it was experiential. A flagship leadership moment that typically relied on the energy of a shared room now had to land with the same impact across hundreds of individual screens. The agenda was ambitious: align leaders around critical strategic priorities, deliver meaningful training on customer service and burnout management, and do all of it in a format that could easily become passive, disconnected, and forgettable.

Our Approach

ImproVision partnered with the client to redesign the conference from the ground up for a virtual environment, not a scaled-down version of the in-person event, but a purpose-built experience engineered for engagement at scale.

We coached senior keynote speakers and panelists to command presence and authority in a virtual setting, and trained client leaders to co-facilitate interactive breakout sessions we designed, embedding the capability directly into their own people. Just-in-time training on customer service and burnout management was integrated throughout, addressing the organization’s most pressing strategic priorities in real time.

ImproVision’s founder, Shannan Scarselletta, traveled to New Orleans to serve as onsite emcee, bringing the connective energy and live facilitation presence that keeps a 600-person virtual audience engaged, aligned, and energized from open to close.

The Results

The conference succeeded in doing what most virtual events fail to do: it felt like an event. Leaders across the southeastern United States left aligned on strategy, equipped with practical tools for leading hybrid teams, and genuinely connected to each other despite the distance. The client was so pleased with the experience that they have since re-engaged ImproVision for additional virtual conferences, making it the model for how their leadership meetings work at scale.
